When Zack returns home to a sleepy town in the heart of Africa, he thinks he is in for a dreary summer holiday. With two lazy sisters and a bunch of bullies in the town, there is not much hope for him. It all changes when he forms a friendship with Kante, his new ‘rafiki’.\r\nThe Boat Race is a story of friendship, mystical creatures and the magic of a million stars of love and kindness. Above all, a story of Africa.\r\n\r\nThis month of Young Adventurers’ Book Club, we will travel to Africa with writer Anjali Mittal, to see the wildebeest migration and the wild animals in Africa, and meet the Maasai tribes! \r\n\r\nThis program available online only.

Yardley Brothers, a member of Asia Society Hong Kong Center, would like to invite fellow members to join him in the launch of his new local craft beer: Wampi 2020 – Foraged Sour. Crafted locally using wild wampi found in on Lamma Island, where the brewery also originated. This beer will truly represent Yardley Brothers, Lamma Island and also Hong Kong! \r\n\r\nJoin fellow members on September 30 to taste this unique Hong Kong craft together!\r\n_____________________________________\r\n\r\nAbout the Wampi 2020 – Foraged Sour by Yardley Brothers\r\nLamma Island is the place where Yardley Brothers originated. It is also home to wild wampi trees, which only fruit for a short season each year. Wampi is the hidden gem of Southeast Asian fruit with a phenomenally spicy, juicy, citrus-like character.\r\nThey set out on a mission to create a beer that reflects both Lamma Island’s creative unique character, as well as showcase the lush and bountiful landscape that is this small green island off the coast of Hong Kong.\r\nWorking with South Lamma’s Mo Tat Wan community and with the assistance of David Hopley, they foraged 35kg of fragrant wild wampi berries and brewed this limited-edition sour. Tart and juicy, complex and refreshing. This foraged sour is about as Lamma as you can get!\r\n\r\nWhat is Wampi?\r\nClausena lansium, also known as wampi, from the Chinese huang pi (黄皮果, yellow skinned fruit) is a species of strongly scented evergreen trees 3–8 m tall, in the family Rutaceae, native to southeast Asia. The fruit is oval, about 3 cm long and 2 cm in diameter, and contains two to five seeds that occupy ~40-50% of the fruit volume. The wampi is cultivated for its fruit, which is a grape sized, fragrant citrus. Its skin and seeds are often eaten along with the pulp, much like kumquat. It is grown extensively in the New Territories of Hong Kong, and is a popular fruit among the indigenous Hakka villagers.\r\n\r\nWhat is the registration deadline? Can the delivery be outside of Hong Kong Island?\r\nPlease register online before September 27, so we can make the delivery arrangement. For delivery outside of Hong Kong Island, please email membershiphk@asiasociety.org for enquiries.\r\n_______________________________________________\r\n\r\nNon-member can sign up for this Wampi Craft Beer Tasting session at HK$1,600 per pax. Apart from the 6 bottles of craft beer surprised selection, you will also get an Individual Membership for a year.
